Now, if you are not the sporty or outdoor adventure type, don't worry ... Gower and Dollars Cottage have you covered!

Relax

There is nothing wrong with lazing in the garden listening to the wildlife and reading a good book ..... Even a late afternoon cordial and sparkling water or G&T are perfectly acceptable at Dollars Cottage!

  • If you haven't brought a book don't worry ... there is a wide selection of books available in the house. Indeed, a world famous author used to write her novels in this cottage .... if you can guess who, drop us an email at the end of your visit and if you are correct you get a 5% discount off your next visit!

  • In the garden are sun loungers and various tables and chairs scattered around the garden .... choose your spot and relax!

  • If you don't want to cook during your stay .... and let's face it, few of us do.... there is the local pub serving food and good ale and wine - just a short walk up the hill ..... it is lovely to walk home downhill!

  • We all need food to eat during our stay - the yummier the better - so all the major supermarkets deliver to Llangennith. Book your delivery to arrive at the start of your stay.

  • If you wish to have something more local.... take a walk, either via the beach if the tide is right or over the hill, to Llanmadoc and have a cup of tea and scone at the Gower famous community Store - local pasties sell out quick so get there early! There is also a store that has local produce - Best in Wales they will tell you! The local post office is also at the store - just in case you have forgotten to send a birthday card or you just want stamps to send your postcards. The shop and cafe are staffed by volunteers - they are very easy on the eye .... but don't let that fool you, they are exceptionally efficient!

  • Open Gardens are to be found during the summer .... check out the links page to get dates and locations.

History

Gower's history stands strong today. It has the oldest formal human burial in Europe at Paviland, Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments and burial sites, Iron Age fortifications, Roman remains, Norman churches and castles and eighteenth-century houses.
